Pie-mergency!
Tall’s dad needs dimpleberries to make a pie, so Tiny and Tall decide to have a berry-picking contest. Each friend calls out the numbers of berries, as they grab them. But Tall is confused: how is Tiny counting her handfuls of berries so fast? Tiny insists that she isn’t counting, she just knows: simple! Tall is frustrated by this explanation, until Tiny shows him how to use subitizing to count small groups of objects.
